Act#ForNature

About 300 actors from Major Groups and Stakeholders came together online for an international consultation to discuss how to strengthen actions for nature to achieve the sustainable development goals.

The virtual consultation took place June 7th and was a preparatory meeting leading up to the Fifth Session of the UN Environment Assembly (UNEA) next year.

How does a post-pandemic recovery look like? This was one of the specific themes that were discussed at the consultation. The discussions centered around four main themes:

  • Health and environment
  • Tackling Ocean Pollution
  • Ecosystem Restoration, Biodiversity, and Development
  • Involvement and Implementation

Participants could attend one or several themes. The consultation was an opportunity to engage in both public panel debates and group discussions with the objective to develop input, in the form of concrete action points, to the Joint Preparatory Retreat of the Bureaux of the UNEA and the Committee of Permanent Representatives.

Oslo Act #forNature Global Forum included Townhalls and the Preparatory Retreat. The forum were convened under the leadership of Mr. Sveinung Rotevatn, President of the UNEA and Minister of Climate and Environment of Norway, and Ms. Inger Andersen, Under Secretary-General of the United Nations and Executive Director of the UN Environment Programme (UNEP).
