Our Goals
A democratic global financial system, where the UN has a clear leadership role, the financial institutions are transparent, rights-based and democratic, where illicit financial flows are prevented and where a country’s right to decide its own economic policy is respected.
Policy outcomes
That the Norwegian authorities:
1. take an international leadership role in establishing regulations for responsible lending from bilateral and multi-lateral lenders, including the World Bank, the IMF and the regional development banks.
2. distinguish themselves as a force driving for the UN to have more influence in global economic decision-making, and the economic analyses, and vote for democratic elections of leaders and an increase of power within the international finance institutions for developing countries.
3. establish national guidelines for country-by-country reporting and initiate international programmes to ensure automatic exchange of tax information.
4. assume an international leadership role in establishing an independent, transparent and fair international mechanism to evaluate and cancel unpayable and illegitimate debts.
