Working group on Trade and the WTO
Main Objectives:
The main objectives of the Working group on Trade and the WTO are:
a) to challenge and influence the policies promoted by the Norwegian Authorities in the World Trade Organization and other arenas for trade and sustainable development, and
b) to achieve a breakthrough for the stand points of ForUMs organizations in any national and international question of trade that influences development and the environment.
Activities:
In general:
- To be a source of professional and international competence for the shaping of opinions in Norway. To achieve this, the group must maintain and continuously update knowledge on international trade related negotiation processes, and regularly exchange information with relevant international NGO coalitions.
- To further develop the already well-functioning cooperation with several networks, organizations and actors in other countries, both in order to coordinate political positions and strategies, and to ensure that voices from the South are heard in the Norwegian debate on trade policies.
- To share information with other member organizations that do not participate in the group in order to foment awareness of the import of the activities of the WTO on their fields of specialization.
- To achieve greater influence for ForUM's policies with the Norwegian Authorities
