Working group on Food Security

Main Objectives:

The Working group on food security's main task is to develop political positions that are well grounded in the member organizations’ policies, and to influence Norwegian authorities accordingly in matters concerning:

1. Work within the framework of the UN Food and Agricultural Organization. This involves working for the right to food, the campaign against hunger, strengthening agreements to prevent international corporations and other large actors from taking out speculative patents on biological materials and suggesting representatives from ForUM for the Norwegian FAO committee.
2. Work for more and better development aid to agriculture in the south, as a tool in the battle against hunger and poverty (on a national and international level)
3. Work on WTO matters connected to agriculture and food sovereignty.
4. Monitor the Norwegian authorities' following up of the WSSD on questions of agricultural interest.
