ForUM has a unique professional credibility concerning key development topics. Our main tasks are to manage the development of a joint  policy on key international development and environmental issues, and to undertake advocacy/lobby activities to achieve concrete political results within the following thematic focus areas:

Climate and energy
Finance and reform
Corporate social responsibility
Trade and the WTO
Peace and human security
Food security
Fresh water and sanitation

Our opinions are adopted in Norwegian and international policy development. The breadth of our representation gives us the legitimacy for our political contributions, both in Norway and via our international network. We are able to establish a basis for finding solutions through sharing knowledge and resources, and often achieve real impact as a result of our contributions.

We seek to influence Norwegian officials and the positions adopted by Norway in international processes. We aim to expose contradictions and challenges across a broad range of topics relating to the environment, peace and development at national and international levels. We collaborate with international networks and organisations on policy development, and help them to participate actively in international processes.

The breadth and cross-disciplinary nature of ForUM’s different policy areas generate new ideas. Over time ForUM has gained experience from influencing international processes and has established an extensive network.
